Team plan

A Team is a set of seats paid for together. Each seat is an email address; whoever signs in to KubeDrive with that address has every Pro feature on their computers, with no card and no trial of their own. The team’s owner gives and takes seats in the app.

Getting a team

Open kubedrive.com/buy?plan=team, choose the number of seats (from 5) and pay by card: $15 a seat a month, billed yearly, through Polar as the merchant of record (VAT and invoices included). The team exists the moment the payment goes through; the address used at checkout is the owner’s, and the owner gets an email saying so. Buying from License… in KubeDrive while signed in makes that account the owner.

The owner

  1. Open KubeDrive, choose License… (the app menu, or ⌘K) and click Sign In with the owner’s address. The License window shows Team · your team’s name, the seats in use and the paid-until date.
  2. Type a colleague’s email under the members and click Add. They get an email; the seat is theirs as soon as they sign in with that address. Every address can be in one team.
  3. Make admin lets a member add and remove others too; Make member takes that back. The owner’s role does not change.
  4. The × next to a member takes the seat back: their computers go back to Free at the next licence check, within a day, and nothing of theirs is lost. The seat is free to give again.

A member

Sign in from License… with the address the owner added. That is all: the plan says Team, every Pro feature is on, and the License window shows the team and who is in it. A member cannot change the team. Signing in on another computer works the same way; a team seat is not limited to one computer.

Renewal and changes

The subscription renews yearly on the card; the owner gets a receipt from Polar each time. Seats are changed in the customer portal (Manage subscription in the License window, or the link in the Polar receipt): more seats apply at once, with the price for the rest of the period; fewer seats apply from the next renewal. Cancelling ends the team on its renewal date, and everyone returns to Free: settings, clusters and tabs stay as they are.

What stays where

KubeDrive talks to your clusters directly, with each person’s own kubeconfig and credentials; nothing about the clusters reaches KubeDrive’s servers. For a team, the servers keep its name, the members’ email addresses and the licence records.

Single sign-on, audit export and shared cluster profiles are next for Team, in the order teams ask for them. Tell us what yours needs.
